The first club to be introduced into the professional market during the 1999/2000 season was the Tour Edge hybrid which was universally accepted by professionals and recreational golfers alike. Venturing into the professional arena was risky as can be attested to by many other companies that tried this before since the club requirements between professional golfers and recreational golfers are vastly different. Having built the brand into a recognizable brand during the initial 13 years by sticking to its core values of building quality clubs for recreational golfers at an affordable price point, Glod decided to venture into the competitive professional golfer market in 1999. Glod’s vision for the company was to create technologically advanced golf products for recreational golfers that want game improvement clubs at an affordable price without sacrificing durability and quality. It was during this stint as a professional golfer that Glod came to the realization that premium brands were dominating the market and the needs of the average recreational golfer on a limited budget were neglected. He had a great desire to play professionally and realized this dream playing pro-level golf for a short time at the Village Links Gold Club, Illinois. He is the person who designed and manufactured the first golf club under the Tour Edge banner. David Glod founded Tour Edge and has been at the helm of the company since its founding in 1986.
